Nearly Singular Integrals in 3D Stokes Flow
نویسندگان
چکیده
A straightforward method is presented for computing three-dimensional Stokes flow, due to forces on a surface, with high accuracy at points near the surface. The flow quantities arewritten as boundary integrals using the free-spaceGreen’s function. To evaluate the integrals near the boundary, the singular kernels are regularized and a simple quadrature is applied in coordinate charts. High order accuracy is obtained by adding special corrections for the regularization and discretization errors, derived here using local asymptotic analysis. Numerical tests demonstrate the uniform convergence rates of the method. AMS subject classifications: 35J47, 65N80, 76D07

A General New Algorithm for Regulaization of Singular Integrals in Three-Dimensional Boundary Elemnts
In this paper an algorithm is presented for the regularization of singular integrals with any degrees of singularity, which may be employed in all three-dimensional problems analyzed by Boundary Elements. The integrals in Boundary Integrals Equations are inherently singular. For example, one can mention the integrals confronted in potential problems to evaluate the flow or the gradient of the f...

متن کاملA Spectrally Accurate Boundary IntegralMethod for InterfacialVelocities in Two-Dimensional Stokes Flow
We present a new numerical method for solving two-dimensional Stokes flow with deformable interfaces such as dynamics of suspended drops or bubbles. The method is based on a boundary integral formulation for the interfacial velocity and is spectrally accurate in space. We analyze the singular behavior of the integrals (single-layer and double-layer integrals) appearing in the equations. The int...
متن کاملA Partially Implicit Hybrid Method for Computing Interface Motion in Stokes Flow
We present a partially implicit hybrid method for simulating the motion of a stiff interface immersed in Stokes flow, in free space or in a rectangular domain with boundary conditions. We assume the interface is a closed curve which remains in the interior of the computational region. The implicit time integration is based on the small-scale decomposition approach and does not require the itera...
متن کاملA general algorithm for numerical evaluation of nearly singular integrals over high-order geometry elements in 3D BEM
The accurate evaluation of nearly singular boundary integrals is an important issue in BEM. Several techniques have been developed in recent years, with various degree of success, but it should be stressed that the boundary geometry is depicted essentially by using lower-order elements in those approaches. However, a high level of the geometry approximation in BEM is desired in many application...
